Many here will say Banol but I have used Monterey Agri-Fos Systemic Fungicide with good results and it is far less expensive overall in that you can buy a smaller quantity like 16 ounce. I just poured it over the substrate after watering.
My rhododendron sits in a black pot, in my pretty organic nursery mix and basically stays pretty damp. It has grown insanely this year with no such problems... Are you certain it is root rot?
