I ordered the following from Sheffield's:

I washed the seeds in three percent hydrogen peroxide, soaking them for about ten minutes, and then placed them in bags of moist sphagnum moss. In the past, I've found sphagnum moss to be effective at preventing mold. The seeds will remain in the refrigerator until the ground thaws, and I can plant them outside.

What is the reasoning behind washing them in three percent hydrogen peroxide? To me that sounds deadly to the seeds.

It doesn't hurt the seeds any more than it hurts your mouth when you gargle with it. It's just water with some extra oxygen atoms. It does, however, prevent fungus and bacterial growth.
