First collected tree

And some need prophylactic systemic protection, too. Looking back over 50 years of gardening, I see a correlation between certain kinds of weeds and buying plants to add to my landscape. Weeds are easy to see, bugs et al are no so easy to see.

man I hope she pulls through. I was hoping the green was enough to give hope

Is the green enough to inspire any hope? I’ll keep caring for her until the last drop of life is gone; I was just curious if this is just me chasing a rainbow.

I have a three trunk Siberian elm in similar condition right now.
No leaves, green under the bark.
I know now I roughed it up too much too early.

Good luck!

Give it a shot of N and lots of sun & warmth. And time, it costs nothing to wait and maybe you get a strategic bud somewhere and a lot of deadwood to play with. Throwing it away in July is no worse than tomorrow.

It’ll live on my bench and get thee best I can for a long while yet, its got a special spot for me being the first tree I’ve collected. Hell I have a clearly dead juniper that I liked the wire job on (was my first decent styling & wiring) still in a pot. It’s like stuffing prized game. I’m a bonsai hunter

No growth, no buds, no bumps that I’m visualizing as future buds.

however…..it turns out that I was subconsciously gold digging when I got married!
her mom and stepdad have more elms than I could dig up this lifetime!

This is my only new one so far, it’s already popping buds after an incredibly rough dig 2 wks ago. I’ll be honest, dig is generous, I didn’t have time and didn’t expect to dig anything so it was more of a pull assisted by a shovel. Either way, she’s growing!
In the fall-spring I plan to go back and get more
