I wonder if it is too late for a repot this year?
 
I am feeling a little bummed about these and am almost willing to risk killing them by repotting them now, right before our weather turns hot. (Supposed to be 103 today and 105 tomorrow, 40 and 41 for you C people)
Getting them into smaller pots sure would make them easier to work on.

I wouldn't repot now...wait until spring
 
The right tree has some great potential. imo. Need to maybe wire up a new leader/apex!
 
Both are shown from what would currently be the front when considering the base. Unfortunately the best shot of the living parts are from the opposite side. I will study on them for a while and wait for full recovery before moving the foliage. At this time it appears that the design will center on those trunks. @leatherback has a sqamata thread that is an inspiration.
