Field grown elm #2

Had this growing in a raised bed for the past five years. Cut down the top last year and pulled it out of the ground yesterday for the next part of its journey in a training box. Better start saving now for the pot, it is going to be a pricy one.

I bought it as a small whip in a 1 gallon container at a club auction for $2.

Eight years at most maybe. Elms can put on some nice growth fast in the ground. This one was pushing 20ft tall before being topped.

It is in a mix of pumice, lava and a gravel that I get from a bonsai nursery in Sacramento.
