ficus fertilizer

What fertilizer and method do you recommend for the ficuses. I have some Macrocarpa, retusa, green island, golden gate, kiki and too little. I've been giving them miracle grow liquid fertilizer. They seem to respnd by growing longer branches with long internodes which throws off the density of the whole canopy if u know what I mean. Thanks in advance!

more light. Like OUTSIDE in full sun from the time the danger from frost has passed until the danger returns again in the fall.

You also need to stay on top of pinching new growth to discourage long internodes, but ample light is the real solution. The tree doesn't give a hoot what kind of fertilizer you give it.
