From the research i've done It depends on the variety/region and probably whether they are in a pot or the ground, but i'm unsure about the dwarf variety as i cannot find a lot of information on them. But they were essentially green until i repotted them. Regardless i'm happy that they are still with meAren’t pomegranates deciduous?
Im doing my research atm about pomgrenate as i aquired on saturday...From the research i've done It depends on the variety/region and probably whether they are in a pot or the ground, but i'm unsure about the dwarf variety as i cannot find a lot of information on them. With climate i'm fine, it rarely gets cold enough to justify any protection. The issue i've found with this dwarf variety so far (especially in a pot) is that they are extremely heat and water temperamental, they don't like it when it gets too hot...ironic for a Mediterranean species...or too cold for that matter and they don't like it when they get too dry or too wet, the prefer a just in time approach...which has proven very problematic for my current level of attention i can provide them with their chosen aggerate. I will probably have to rethink what aggerate i put them in as watering them everyday just before the heat is not feasibleIm doing my research atm about pomgrenate as i aquired on saturday...
As from what i understand they are mediterranian trees wich dont like frost to much , they do go dormant in colder climates but they can keep their foliage year round if temperatures stay higher some treat them as tropical altough to get them to flower and fruit and stay healthy on the long run its better to let then go into dormacy over winter.
I will have going protect mine in winter as we get days and nights well below zero
My Punica granatum nana is now 5 years old and super healthy. I keep it in my 55° greenhouse in the winter, usually keep it outside to get some nights below 40° in the fall. With climate i'm fine, it rarely gets cold enough to justify any protection.
