Emergency repot of Black olives.

Good morning guys I got back from vacation and my pre bonsai black olive had taken a bad turn see photos. Two weeks care giver watered as instructed all other trees are doing well. So I started poking around looks like root gnats! But I have never seen anything like these large "egg cases" at any other time that I've dealt with gnats. Can anyone share information?
Suggestions beyond the repotting, defoliating, Sevin treatment, and time?

Looks more like snail or slug eggs, if so they likely aren't eating anything yet
