Hello guys!
I wolud like to show the progression of this Duranta Repens.
This plant was being killed by the neighbor because he no longer wanted it in his garden, luckily I was passing by, I asked if I could keep it, which I think was at the end of 2014.

I did not take a photo when I took the plant out.
This is the first photo of the plant already stabilized.

Here I chose to reduce the right and left branches.
This pic shows the new branches after cutting.

When you decided to reduce the right and left trunks it pushed the tree to a new level. That was a really good decision.

Yes, totaly agree with you! I took this plant to a meeting of friends, and one of them gave me the idea of reducing the branches, it was the most important thing for the development of the project.

You need to let a leader on the main trunk run and thicken, then cut it back and repeat until it looks more natural. Very nice material.
Thanks a lot my friend! Could you draw It ? If is not a problem,
I really appreciate receiving tips, but my english is not so good...Thank you again.

He means to develop some sacrifice growth to help out with the taper at the top. Something like this. It is temporary to improve the transition.

Yep, that's it. I see this mistake commonly with nice material. It goes to a bonsai pot or restricted container too soon, the leader gets wired and trimmed, and its base stops thickening. The look is especially jarring with deciduous trees in winter, when there's no foliage to hide the mistake.

I really like that you pushed up the right side.....
But that twig and the branch below it, coming off the main trunk, those should go, unless you can find that right nub down further?

This is a wicked grab!

Really awesome job.....Japanese are always going on about no wounds on deciduous but as far as I am concerned that looks like a tree straight out of some old forest in Lord of the Rings and that is exactly how deciduous should look..(in my humble opinion).. nice work look forward to next springs pics.
