So I've got this neglected Nana that I had as a windswept design. I'm thinking about changing the tree up a little and I would like to get some input from you guys. I'm thinking of maybe changing the angle to a slanted style or an informal upright. I'm not against cutting back and taking advantage of the thicker trunk and make a shohein size tree. No cascade for this one and I could always do windswept again but I feel like that style is more like a moment than a story. Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions.IMG_20230930_131359367_HDR~2.jpgIMG_20230930_131428712_HDR~2.jpgIMG_20230930_131506882_HDR~2.jpgIMG_20230930_131532093_HDR~2.jpgIMG_20230930_131545565_HDR~2.jpg

It’s so dense it’s really difficult to tell what’s going on even with that underside view. Perhaps after some clean up it would be easier to give advice when people can see more of the structure.

Personally, I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss cascade. I know everyone says that nana cascades have been overdone but this one, in my opinion, has a bit more potential to be a good cascade than 99% of other nana cascades out there!

Sky's the limit with young, flexible material like this. Could go a lot of ways. What speaks to you about it in terms of a possible shape? I always like to try a shape or style I haven't tried before with nanas like this.

I agree, lots of potential here. Could go almost anywhere you want.
Now is a good time to put some wire on it, perhaps some wiggle in that trunk.
Bend it big, turn it into an upright?
