Did everyone here start with BLUE pots?

Also got those little one from Jim Barrett’s recent sale. The glaze is textured. I got the impression that he wasn’t real keen on them, but I thought it interesting!

Maybe, what attracts many of us to bonsai is the ability to be ~artists~ in spite of having no other kind of art talent or skill. Painting and drawing are both unappealing and un-do-able for people with my hand-eye coordination. I like music but have no interest in making any, and sculpture makes my head hurt. I don't even like to call myself an artist and only allow what I do to be called art to, "go along to get along". I've always been a gardener and consider what I do to be managing plants more than creating "art". I evolved to bonsai when my yard was finally choked with all the plants it could hold and my potted tropical plants just kind of needed to get smaller and a gardening friend told me about a bonsai club meeting nearby. A confluence of occurrences rather than any intent to be ~creative~. Detail work has always been my hallmark, making plastic parts for the auto industry. I suspect we all have different stories, but the same approximate outcome, and another way to satisfy our OCD (Obessessive Repulsive Disorder).
