I'm currently reading Gnarly Branches and Ancient Trees. Dan Robinson would intentionally grow out branches in wired/twisted fashion, even if he intended them to be jinned later. If you DO intend to kill the top, I would suggest that you keep the branching for realism's sake.

Google Dan Robinson deadwood if you feel like it.

I like that there is more space(like Giga mentioned) from this angle. It has an appearance of an old eastern white pine. You could remove this top part, or keep it.View attachment 174419
