Cut paste on shari

Does anyone put cut paste on fresh shari's? I've seen it done on blogs once or twice but it doesn't seem to be the norm.

You mean, like covering the whole thing? Never seen that... You do see it pasted along the edge of the live vein sometimes to prevent further die back.

Yes, along the edge of the live vein was what I was referring to. Does not seem to be done or at least shown alot.

Yes...helps to prevent the bark from receding beyond where you've created the shari. I don't do it all the time, but have done it in the past.

I think it is more important on very large areas of dead wood... Bigger trees...

Isn't cutpaste to get/grow/recover bark, and isn't a shari the complete opposite? Im not into shari yet so, it's maybe a stupid question.

You're covering/protecting the edge of the bark that was cut to create the shari.
