Cotoneaster are fun!

My other one is still green.
This one had brighter colors last year, more bright red than this years burgundy.
 
One of my cotos suffered badly from the heat and drought, I lost two small ones that were in training, but this one was slip-potted in a larger pot and kept in the shade. The birds didn't even eat the fruit ! I'll post a better picture when the Autumn colours show :

Cotoneaster over rock is a very long term project as they bulk up so slowly. Here's one from seed that I've been adjusting the length of the branches on, especially the lowest. The best bit of this tree is in Autumn, it gets lovely colours.

Love seeing all these cotoneasters! Will be looking to pick one up in the near future. Possibly over the weekend at the open house at Bill Valvanis nursery.
 
i seem to only find the horizontalis variety in the nursery's here dont realy like the growth habit of those, got one in the ground staked it straight up to thicken some gonna relocate it in spring and see the result after three years of ground growing :)
