What he means to say is that this tree is most likely going to die because you didn't use the 1/3 rule. Seeing that chop wound I guess u used the 4/5 rule perhapsGood luck, don't get too attached to them. Most success stories with these are collecting as many roots as possible and keeping field soil. Water only when needed, sit back and cross fingers.
What does this mean?the 1/3 rule.
Well in my understanding it's the best / safe to prune 1/3 (30%) of the roots and/or foilage (on conifers), pruning more then that will have a higher risk of it dieying because conifers don't like big root or foilage loss. What does this mean?
I have a very small carWhen I collect conifers I don't prune anything unless it can't fit in the car, then I'm very minimal about what goes. Conifers need as much foliage as possible to regenerate roots. I'm rooting for this one lol pun not intended.Aaron
I have a 2003 Acura rsx, and yesterday I had 5 ponderosas, 3 people, 2 coolers, 3 backpacks, and 4 bags of DE. I'll admit though it was a crazy tight squeeze. here's those treesI have a very small car
In think you oughta cut off those branches and take it back to your original namesake!
