Collected Ponderosa Pine No. 2

Anyone have ideas for what container this would loook good with ? Would a rectangle even look good or should I find a round or oval or even on a stone but I won’t have a stone big enough lol

If you go rectangle it will need some soft features like rounded edges or ornate feet and/or rim. Oval would probably be best to suit the femininity of the tree though.

Yeah I was thinking that like a unglazed oval shallow I don’t wanna do a slab cause I have other stuff going on those for repots

I’ll try it’s like straight and rigid I’d wonder if I’d have to rig the hell out of it then
As long as there isn't deadwood along the branch you want to bend then it should take heavy bending just fine. I've done some pretty major bending on heavier branches than that on pondy and generally you will see the bark crack before the cambium.
Before and after of the semi cascade I worked on last, might help. I cut 2 holes in the tubing and put the strands through the holes, keeps it in place really well to protect the bark. You can see the caramel colored bark where the bark cracked a bit, which is normal it is the cambium you need to worry about, take your time. You can tighten it more over time.

Thanks I appreciate your insight I decided to not rig this bend because it is too straight and brittle .. I have done heavy bends before on my own materials and at the studio.. wedge cuts do work well for rigid areas too but which I did made to loosen the spacing between bottom and main trunk line
