She would laugh and tell me to do the dishes, the laundry, and mop the floor. Of course, I'd say "Yes ma'am" because when mama's not happy, nobody is happy.
On the other hand, this tree was heading for the compost heap. It was a tree not worth looking at to the bulldozer operator. Now it probably will be a tree that tended to for the rest of its day. Whatever doesn't kill it make it stronger and more beautiful. Imagine all the new shoots wired either in to tiers or weeping.

I now don't use the ratchet strap much anymore. Paracord and truckers' hitch knot works better.

It is funny how that came about. I was looking for my bag of raffia and couldn't find it. I then remembered I had a box full of old t-shirt so I took one out, cut it into strips and used them just like I would raffia. That worked well for me so now old t-shirt is coonass' raffia.

It is now unconstrained. Trunk split has just begun to heal so the mummy wrap stays.

Just so you know, the torturing will not stop. After the first growing season, this tree will receive a bottom trunk split to maximum flare!

Bottom split and potted today. The top training will be early spring next year. It is likely to be a funky flat top.

It really seems like these things are pretty much indestructable. I like the tshirt usage... I always have rags, shirts, etc around.

Well, at first glance it may seem indestructible but. There is always a but.
I have done so many things to my trees and they all live. Yet quite a few my trees in the hands of others have had some serious setback.

Good work! I would be careful to avoid having the branch after the big curve parallel to the ground. My personal preference would be to bring down closer to lower trunk... looks like you already have a guy wire there so it shouldn't be too difficult to bring it down. Should be a pretty interesting tree in short order!
