Or maybe they see a different tree than you?
Seeing the tree has nothing to do with being patient v. impatience.

Update: Lots of new growth and a potential new leader (arrow). Still needs to be re-potted but planning on waiting until it can go outside. We are expecting a snow storm here in Colorado this weekend... Definitely not spring yet.

This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I knew Chinese Elms grew fast but I am amazed at how much growth this guy has put out so quickly. First major trim today (besides cutting it's head off), left alone the potential new leader(s). Considering developing a double trunk style since 2 branches are growing out of the same spot (arrow).

It looks happy.
I bet it really takes off after it gets out in the sun.

Agreed, it will be getting an upgraded pot when it can go outside as well.. Here in Colorado we are having a blizzard so it's going to have to wait a while longer

You're keeping this indoors?
Using lights or window?

For right now, I purchased it from a greenhouse a month or so ago and it's been to cold for it to go outside. As soon as it warms up here in Colorado it will go out. No lights, just a West facing window sill, fertilizer, and some love.

I think it's doing very well and you got some great advice here! It'll take a little time but these are fast growing and it won't take you long to have a nice little tree. Keep us posted on your updates. This will be fun to practice thread and approach grafts with, or to take cuttings from which are really easy to root.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback! I will definitely keep you guys updated on it's progress. I really got this tree with no expectations and it has blown me away with it's ability to thrive. There is actually a little baby that sprouted from the roots so I plan on separating it when I repot and try and grow it up as it's own seedling. I plan on learning a lot from this little guy!
