Picked up two ch. elms yesterday to begin the styling of becoming a penjing which as many of you probably already know is the Chinese style of bonsai. Although in many cases the term Penjing denotes itself to a landscape type setup, it can go with just one tree also which is what I'm shooting for. This first pic is the before still in it's nursery pot.

Second pic here shows the tree after a slip pot and styling done for now. The pot being used of course will not be it's ultimate pot I just needed something deep for the slip without messing with the roots too much. It will also have more trimming of the branching done down the road to open it up even more.

This is the other one which will be a shohin and it too will of course be in a much smaller pot as time goes by.
