Catalpa ?!

I prune my 2 medium ones according to the placement of shade I desire over my beds. So they don't actually 'look' like traditional catalpas they are almost like a canopy. I think I'll give it a try- I also have J maple, elm, oak (too slow for me!) apple, peach and birch) after reading here, I'm excited to try several! Thank you for your reply :)!

Do you know where your neighborhood Catalpas are?

Yup, in my yard :) they're not as old as the ones in your photos, perhaps 12-15 ft, I also keep them trimmed so they don't grow straight up! I did have a yard, once, with one like your pix, took forever to get all the leaves/pods up. I have a couple sprouts, not suckers, that are about 6-8" tall - thought they may be good? I was intrigued, reading here, about using what's around you! Loved your giant!! Pix Quite funny, mine are just now budding leaves. Thanks!

I'm sure it's Paulownia now. But I'll keep posting update pics in this thread. It's a fun tree to have, very different.
Almost like each leaf is a pad at this point...;)

It's a big job:

Here's what it looks like directly above the repotting area:

Wish I'd consulted an arborist over the winter.
