Since you are in Laguna, if you haven’t yet, hike Whiting Ranch for inspiration. Some really amazing oaks back in there. So amazing that after a while it’s like whatever!

There is a recognized oak there that is either the largest or oldest of it’s kind around. May be registered.

This info may be too little too late. But I recently picked up a nursery canyon live oak and gave its very hard prune along with repot with heavy root work. To say I got an abundance of buds would be an understatement. May be worth a decently hard cutback on yours at some point. Maybe not to the trunk as I can see the vision you’ve got going. But cutting back some of the real long taperless branch may be helpful!
