Found this tiny guy in the deepest recesses of my new backyard. I hope I didn’t kill it, cuz I think it’s cool AF. It reminded my vaguely of old growth cedars on the Pacific Northwest coast.

I have added some wire and manipulated the angled branch on the right.

I really dig the teeny tiny shari and jins! CD38D910-A5C0-4984-913F-11A4F7976425.jpegB13640F5-6935-4AEE-A34E-F882321636EA.jpeg155EFE39-3937-4D25-957D-F857DE75FA8C.jpeg53D62EEB-818A-4363-BA83-581B29DA83AE.jpeg

Here it is after some amateur wiring. I’ll leave the poor guy alone for a couple seasons and see if I can keep him alive

Do you know how you plan to take this going forward? Do you plan to add more movment to the trunk(s). Im guessing your going for a twin trunk?

i think he's attempting the candelabra style, some conifers grow this way in nature

its great that you have a vision for such raw material, its obvious to me that youve been looking at trees in nature for ideas.

Haha! A PLAN?!? Honestly, I'm kind of embarrassed that I even posted this. I was in the initial stages of Bonsai Fever, delusional, everything that grew out of the ground looked like an amazing potential piece of material. I suppose I expected this lil guy would grow into some sort of majestic tree in a year or two. Like I said: delusional. Regardless, it'll sit on my bench for nostalgia purposes

Maybe this was my plan:

Maybe, but thats not a bad thing. See it though. I was poking with questions because it's alot more interesting to post pictures and talk about the project, then it is to say heres some random pictures enjoy. Whats your plans? What do you think should be your next step for the tree and when should you do it?

I suppose the short term plan is to get through winter and come out alive in spring 2020. I have a spot under my deck on the north side of my house where I plan to tuck my trees away with some mulch.

Style-wise, because of the big jin and it's proportions with the live branches, I am determined to keep this tree at the current height, but I want more thickness to the live tissue. I may end up moving the tree to a sunny grow bed and let it go crazy for a few years

Yea, im thinking thats your best bet too. I main reason I brought it up, is we are pretty much in the same boat as far as where we are moving out of the 'Beginners' material. Yes we know the tree wont be a masterpiece anytime soon. So use it while you work on getting better material. Cant learn with nothing to learn on.
