Hello Bonsai nuts, does any one know when's the best time of year to dig up a California pepper tree from the ground and put it in a grow box? Im assuming this is an evergreen tree since its green all year. I'm not sure the time frame to do any kind of work to these trees throughout the year. If you know, can you please share a guideline for doing work on these kinds of trees throughout the year. Thank you all so much!

Schinus molle is a tough tree and is a weed species in my area. They survive transplant at all times of the year down here so should be similar for you in SoCal.
Transplant in spring and autumn will be easier on the tree.
Pruning whenever you need to but you'll get faster response to spring and summer pruning.

I agree, they are a weed species.

Thanks Guys, I have a very old one in my front yard with a massive trunk that is probably a good 5-6 feet in diameter at the base and every once in a while some sprouts pop up in my flower beds so I thought I would pull one out and play around with it.
