California Juniper - new project

Went to SoCal for a Japanese Koi show this weekend. Stopped by Eastern Nishikigoi to look for some koi, but end up with few Cal Juniper trees including this one.

This is a new project for me. Started studying for this project. Any suggestion?

Nice piece of material... looks like a challenge.

A tree like this I am hesitant to make constructive comments on without seeing it in real life or about a dozen pictures from various sides/planting angles.

But what I can see is that the big branch going straight across the trunk will probably need some serious work... unlikely it can be removed since it could provide some important pads down there, but it will probably need to be bent.

Also, it looks quite recently collected, or, it has not grown enough since collecting. I know nothing about cali juni, but if this was an RMJ it would be at least a couple years away from being ready for work.
