Is anyone growing California juniper in colder than Southern California temps? I have a couple that I have had over 2 years growing in 7B, so I take them in and out of the garage depending on the temps in winter. I am wondering how necessary protecting them is needed. They have definitely seen some temps of 25 but not any colder. Now I know I should just have trees that grow in my environment, but I fell in love with one of them and had to get deadwood.

I would probably put them in an unheated greenhouse if you have one, just to be safe. Gotta love a California.

Thanks, I will try that for next winter maybe also add a heat mat on the coldest days. I guess I will keep its routine up for now of in and out of the garage. I am planning a repot- repositioning for this Spring on the larger of the 2. It was collected in the early 1990s, and I purchased from Peter Tea. Wish me luck on the repot!
