I have done many searches on the web and on this forum trying to figure out how well burning bushes heal and scar over. I have one that I'm am contemplating cutting a major section off. Does anyone have any experience or advice concerning this species. Its Euonymus alatas compactus.

I have done major branch removal and the scars heal well if treated correct. You do want to leave dormant buds on the tree as this will be the new growth. For some reason they are know to just have branches die for no reason so watch for this. Take special care in using wire as the branches are not that pliable and the "wings" will break very easy.

I've heard of this spontaneous die back. Mine is not the "winged" type so no problems there. I wasn't planning on wiring this one too much. There is just a third lead between the two I plan to keep that I want to remove. I just want to be sure the scar will heal over decently. How do you handle the root work?
