Borat is struggling this spring while other BCs are growing like crazy. I checked and found the mustache roots to be in poor shape from the hard freeze. The root down below will have to carry the load.

Weird side-note...

Have you noticed that it seems like a most Americans don't think farts are funny anymore?

Boooo!

🤣🤣🤣

Are you saying that I and my grand children are not Americans? 😁
I think the majority still think farts are funny but they have been shamed into public denial.

Unfreaking believable. Borat died in a week!
I was not vigilant enough! A big swarm of carpenter ants swoop in on Borat, built their ant colony under the bark and killed the tree before I could blink. I noticed last week that the leaves on Borat were not looking good. Yesterday (Monday) I saw that the leaves all dried out. I checked and found ants everywhere under the bark all over the tree. I checked multiple places on the trunk under the dead bark and did not find any live tissue!!!!
GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!
ARRGGG!
I am on a war path against these ants! Borat was a very good and healthy tree last year.

Those ants are a serious issue... one of my backyard oaks was killed last year by them, when I noticed I bought pesticide for them and flooded the entire area around that tree, the fence between my backyard and the easement, and all the ground around where I have my trees. I noticed they had already started eating at my other oak tree, but the drench apparently took care of them because the tree is doing great and I have not seen any more damage. That sucks for that tree, it was an interesting one.

I am planning to treat my entire back yard.

I got this one and used my Ortho sprayer and drenched everything... LOL, even used the stream output and sprayed the entire trunk on the oak that survived.

Finally took Borat out with the garbage this morning. I was hoping for miraculous recovery, but it wasn't meant to be. It was a sad moment. Borat was a nice tree.
