Bonsai Show in Southeast Michigan

Thanks for the plug Mike, we've been putting on a good show for a wile now, but this is our 2nd year at the Bordine's location which I feel has helped create a more interactive feel.

We have great vendors, raffle prizes, demonstrations, and above all else people who love to talk Bonsai.

Bordine's
Much larger than Tellys. Acres of nursery.
Once again I'll be at the mugo table with Vance.
I'm bringing my largest jack pine this year and a collected scots too. Plus other trees to work on while there.

Mike,
When are you coming in? Would you have time for a free breakfast on me?
Leonard

I'm leaving at 5:00a.m. tomorrow morning. I'm staying at my daughters house and she is already going to have breakfast ready when I get there around 8:00.
Thank you though very much Leonard. I'll be at Bordines around 10:00.

free breakfast

Leonard saved 2 hogs, two loaves of bread, about 2 dozen eggs, Probly the chicken they came out of too, and a gallon of OJ!

Best buy a nice tree now Leonard!

Hope you boys have fun!

Its my wifes birthday today, so no real chance of me being able to make it today, but im hoping maybe tomorrow I can shoot up there

That's what is called a light breakfast. I eat the chickens with the eggs still in them and the feathers on.
Since I'm down near Detroit where the weak are killed and eaten we had people for dinner.

I already have nice trees. And this year Mark Fields helped me start one on its way to a show winner ( I think with a few years refinement ).
Another tree another way to try something different ( isn't it why we work so hard at this? ).
Regards,
Leonard

Mike,
I was still working with Mark on my Hinoki when you left. Sorry I missed you. See above post for before and after ( I think it turned out scary good ), tell me what you think.
Can't wait till next year to try something new ( maybe a twist on a Phoenix graft I hope to surprise even you with! ).
Thanks to you and Vance for great lessons.
Regards,
Leonard

A pleasure having you around. It's not often I get to talk to someone who has shoveled some of the same S.E. Asia dirt at about the same time.

I'm hoping someone will post photos of more of the trees on display. Please?

Thanks, Mike!

That's about as good of an EWP as I've seen! Lots of age on the trunk by the appearance of the bark. Short internodes. I still don't like the foliage quality, but it is what it is!

Adair,
Official photos should show up in the next Four Seasons Club newsletter next month( pro quality I'm sure ).
I had a Hinoki dwarf that I got a real refinement lesson with. It scared me to death thinking that I may have ruined a beautiful tree till I started to see what Mark Fields was talking about and then I jumped in with both feet.
I think it is the best thing I have worked on so far. Now the big lesson is to keep it alive and healthy till next spring when I put it in a training pot.
I think it may be my first show piece in a few years ( if I can keep it alive! ).
Wish me luck,
Regards,
Leonard
