Bonsai Rescued!

The process has been around forever. It's just being applied to stuff for the first time (deceased pets are another market for the process, )"Preserved" bonsai are pretty common. Do a search on amazon, ebay, etsy and you can come up with hundreds of examples and companies that sell preserved bonsai mostly to the novelty and home decor markets. Some of the examples are quite good as far as bonsai esthetics go, some are awful, but all are dead. 😁
Some have gone as far as creating a mold out of a dead trunk of a bonsai then filling it with molten aluminum. If I ever have a beloved bonsai that die, I will do that :D

I have one of these studios near me...probably about $300-$500 for a large bonsai to be captured and reproduced...

I thought they were just really good fakes. Not freeze dried. But I didn’t really look at them since I consider artificial plants as dust magnets.

There are really good fakes out there, but freeze dried preserves a real bonsai--mallsai (Online seller Bonsai boy apparently re uses its dead trees for such or at least sells preserved trees). There are also hybrids handmade trunks combined with freeze dried foliage...You can typically tell a fake by the trunk (which looks weird or well, fake) or the foliage color/texture. These are becoming more common for "normal" people who like the "zen" BS for their interiors, but don't really bother to much understand either Zen or bonsai... 😁

But but butt, when I do a downward dog and say OM! I wanna look up and see a bonsai. I don't care if it's not alive.
PS: I don't care if yoga got nothing to do with "zen" either. I just wanna be me.

Don’t forget your crystals & Wiccan honeypot. Somehow those are Zen too! BTW, who is this Dogen guy who said “what you think is good isn’t necessarily good”? He doesn’t sound very Zen to me!
