My ficus can take about as much direct sun as you can give them, and our summers here regularly approach or exceed upper 90s, with summer temps on my front porch exceeding 100 on a daily basis. I keep my ficus either in humidity trays or not, but that depends on sun, pot size and shape, placement and also affects watering habits for me, so the trays are not always optional. I rarely water every single day for any of my trees, and I have well over 60 just on my front porch at this point between prebonsai, saplings and mature trees. Ficus can take a few days of heat and dry soil before getting unduly stressed, but really extreme temps will require vigilance. I've not had problems with overwatering a ficus. They are resistant to most pests, but not immune. I have Green Island/microcarpa, Benjamina and Retusa. Neem oil and other essential oils mixed with oil soap and water in a spray bottle can definitely help with fungus and pests, and I also do root/soil drenches of neem, soap and water from time to time to combat fungus and mites.
