I put this together in March of 2023 and have been patiently waiting for the small trees to get strong again. Finally felt like they were ready for some wire training...

The container is by Preston Tolbert and the tallest tree reaches 36" over the pot.

This is as of now the only BC group planting that I have liked. I think the rear trees should be slightly angled more into the negative space, not a lot just a bit to show tridimensional depth. Right now, maybe because of the shades from the light, they look as part of the front trees.

it is just the lighting... 7 trunks in a 20" container...they have to be close together and that was the main purpose I was shooting for when I assembled them.

I like it. Ur lucky to have such wonderful trees right down the street from you.

Nice arrangement, and I love the subtle curves in this trunks. Cramming all those trees into a 20” pot is a challenge. I have one that started with 7 then dropped to 5 and is now at 3 after some losses when moved from a large training pot down to a ceramic bonsai pot. I think a couple weakened by the move were lost due to a late spring freeze. Next spring I will add back 2 small ones and keep it in the greenhouse afterwards. I would still like to find some mid-sized trees to fill in more.

Great work as always-- and I love the choice to use the cool round by Preston Tolbert. Looking forward to seeing you at the show this weekend and whatever you ended up going with for your display. :)

Thanks Rob! I'm looking forward to the show! As far as my display goes I'll drop this hint...Allee:)

I wish I could attend too but my daughter is flying in from Texas for the weekend. You guys have a great show and Rob, I hope you sell out of pots.

Love it
I want to do a forest so bad.

Crazy how tight you got those trees John. Well done. And as much as I love the trees themselves, that pot is so good.
