Dead!!!!! I done killed this forest. Probably from all the root damage I did while trying to arrange the forest. It held on for a while, but finally went to heaven. BURN PILE!!!!!!
Not wasting any time R U
I like it. Nice photo as well.Haha yeah! The way I see it, 3 years is a blink of the eye in BonsaiTime! That’s why decided to hit the trees HARD this first year, then focus on growth/recovery for 2 more years before a final styling.
Here’s my hinoki Xmas tree...also brought to the brink of death.

If I may,.. what are you using for recovery soil as it look like repots have also happened.
I see. Thanks. I’m learning that pumice is a great medium.Well, it sorta depends. For the hinoki, it’s a mix of sifted pumice and about 20% pine bark. Topped with sphagnum to protect the shallow roots. The ABPs got a variety of treatments. I gave one full pumice, one is left in a nursery pot with original soil, and one got a pumice/bark mix.
We are coming closer to the end of the Little Christmas Tree contest. Final photos should be posted in your individual threads, and will be voted on by the general membership starting on April 30.
Time to start thinking about your repotting, final design, wiring, pruning and generally getting the trees in shape for the contest!
