Archived threads...no pics?

I am looking at a few archived threads and noticed some refer to pictures but I cannot see any. Are pics not included on archived threads?

All the discussion about shared pictures, especially progression threads will become useless.

Besides, what good are pics in your own album/gallery when the discussion is on the thread?

I think part of the problem is that some people post links to photos on other servers (photo servers) and then delete their accounts (or individual photos), possibly forgetting that they've posted them in forums like this. Then the threads show broken images. I've seen this on other forums.

Unless you're referring to a specific set of archived threads that I'm not familiar with...do all the threads you've been looking at have broken images, or just some of them?

For lack of a better reason it shows in a small way that you have trees to back up what you say. If you tend to give advise or boast of something on a subject of this, that or something else, you should at least be able to back up what you say. I suppose this is not a prerequisite but all people who get responses on something that means something to them should at least have a reasonable assurance that the answer they received from someone is based on experience and not simply reading someone else's book, blog, web site, tweet, or flatulation in a hot tub. I suppose I could be wrong but maybe the next time someone kills a tree based on the advise rendered by the hot tub club the person responsible for the advice will come forward.

Can you post links to a few of them? Perhaps there was a system glitch at some point and all photos past that point were lost.

The most common reason for this problem has to do with how posters attach their pics in the first place. If the pics were just linked to here from some other photo hosting websites, then the links can be broken over time. The photo hosting websites are not free, at least not forever. After a few years, when the users are inactive, their free accounts could be deleted to make space for others. When that happens, all links to them are made obsolete. People also often go onto their hosting websites and modify their photo galleries without realizing that there is a link to their photos. I suspect BNut will eventually go thru and delete some of the old archived threads. That's a lot of work!

Sometimes you cannot find photographs because some members of this forum do not or will not post them, or they take them down for what ever reason soon after posting them.

Interesting...where did you find those "archived" threads? I checked the first thread in the list and it still exists, with photos, in the system:

Now I see what you are saying Dario. This site had a big crash a year or two ago and a lot of photos got lost. Maybe that's what happenned to these. But some of these still have photos. I will let BNut know, if he had not read this thread already.

When you click on the archive thread, it comes up in black and white. click on the bold type and it will take you to the actual thread and all the pictures are there.
