Yeah I’ll trim em down tonight .. plant the collected sizes hornbeams and place into an Anderson flat with pumice and regular soil mixture … set and forest for 2 years and the roots will escape and stick together in a groupYeah, the spacing of the trees looks natural. I assume you'll be doing a bit more pruning at some point to clean it up a bit? After seeing your post, I decided to collect some Carpinus caroliniana of varying sizes to put together into a forest of my own next spring.
Uesh these will be wired or pulled w guy wire for some but overall I’m just gonna grow or stunt depending on size and position in forestI probably would have been tempted to wire them out by now, but I love styling. Even in the early stages while growing out.
Wiring is fun once you get goingUesh these will be wired or pulled w guy wire for some but overall I’m just gonna grow or stunt depending on size and position in forest
just thicker trees where I want them to be and more refinement over time it’s in its final potLooking great!
How big do you foresee the final result to be?
Wondering any issue watering with soil so high in relation to pot?View attachment 589710
Cut it back to get overall outline of dominant treeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Sphagnum is mounded up makes it look higher than it really is .. no issue.. maybe in future bring it down a bit underneath but I’ve seen plenty of examples of forests in trays with variation in elevationWondering any issue watering with soil so high in relation to pot?
