I'm English actually, but we lived 5 years in Redondo Beach, CA.Youre from the states right? How are you and the plants liking the Dutch climate? Ive heard Rotterdam is a horticultural center of sorts.
So that's your secret then? You have 700 nurseries near you- so there's an abundance of material. You can watch for good stuff???I'm English actually, but we lived 5 years in Redondo Beach, CA.
Some of my trees started out (35 years ago - Jeez I'm old) in the UK.
The Netherlands in general has a lot of horticultural history - there's a city between Amsterdam and Rotterdam (Boskoop) which has over 700 nurseries. They produce a great deal of the garden center material for the whole of Europe.
I was last in Boskoop in March : https://www.flickr.com/photos/norbury/albums/72157651497205306

And you sell your trees cheap too.
How about the pots? Where do you find those?
I think I just pee peed a littleMy secret is we ALSO have the three largest bonsai import/export companies in Europe in The Netherlands. These places are enormous, each employing dozens of people and importing and exporting hundreds of thousands of bonsai trees per year. I get to choose trees out of thousands of examples - so I'll always pick the best ones out. I pay discounted prices as a good customer and will sometimes buy 30 trees at a time. I can pay as little as $3 for a mallsai... Pots are the same story - cheap Chinese ones at the importers, decent hand made ones from Czech republic at bonsai shows.
