Did this ever take?
I've read and watched many videos regardin air layers but I don't remember coming across this information. Do you usually do this, or is it just in theory?Having left it open to the air for a day or so, you've killed all the xylem initials (cambium on the wood), so you won't have any bridging problems.
I believe this helps.......I also leave gel on it for a day tooI've read and watched many videos regardin air layers but I don't remember coming across this information. Do you usually do this, or is it just in theory?
What kind of gel?I also leave gel on it for a day too
That's how I do it too. I tried to airlayer a trunk with a deadwood part this year. I scraped it good after removing the bark, trying not to leave anything near the deadwood, but it didn't push any roots, probably because I started it too late. I'm quite confident I did a good job removing the cambium, but if it doesn't push roots till next summer I think I will let it open for a day after removing the bark, as a second attempt. Thanks for the tipI forgo thr drying process and instead scrape with a blade the cambium
