Hey everyone,

Years ago I used to use Bio-Gold to fertilize my trees and had great results. I haven't used it since as I've been unable to find it at a decent price. I checked Dallas Bonsai and they have a small bag of it for $50. Anyone have any better, cheaper sources for it?

wish I did. It WAS always the standard for me that gave the best results. After retirering and trying to stretch the most out of my hobby monies, I had to go to locally made organics which gets disperced from tea bags everytime I water. Change bags out every 6-8 weeks depending on the X's of watering per day.
My friends still employed get their's from the source you mentioned....:)

I've been using Gro-Power tablets coupled with Osmocote in tea bags. That, along with weekly fertilizing using MiracleGro and organics (fish/seaweed), and I've had good results. The Gro-Power tablets last a long time, don't clog up the top of the soil, and are much cheaper than Bio-Gold.

Hmm I like the sound of these Gro-Power tablets. Can you only buy them online? Or have you found a source for them elsewhere?

Check the bonsai selling pages on FB. I can't recall which one it was but I thought I saw the big bags of Bio-gold for sale in the last day or two at a decent price.

EDIT: it's bonsai sales, 11 pound bag for $50, plus $15 shipping.

I just went direct to the manufacturer, and asked them for a bag - they packed it in a priority box (I forget the actual amount/weight). At the time I ordered, they had recently gotten a number of other orders from bonsai hobbyists, and they were happy to fill retail orders.
