Why isn't he on Bnut?
because the majority of the advice given on these forums comes from people like Adam's blogs. and rather than the users speaking from personal experience, they regurgitate information and don't even consider differences in climate. also, the bonsai amateurs, which is what the forums are full of, give such ill advice time and time again while belittling others, that its simply a waste of time to be an active member. when someone is wrong, they will defend and flame rather than accept they're wrong and learn.
Adam is the second vp chair of BSF and as such, BSF and the local Florida clubs are putting a lot of effort into helping Adam's family during this time. I am not going to start spitting numbers, but BSOB at our last meeting raised a fair chunk of change through the membership and voted that the treasury match what the members raised; all of which is going directly to Adam and his family. in january, Adam was scheduled to do a beginners course for a retirement community, I've volunteered to teach the course and donate all of the proceeds to his family. and again in march, BSOB will be having Toby Diaz for a demonstration/workshop; Toby has agreed to donate the proceeds again to Adam; they're actually good friends as well.
He is going home again, but he's lost somewhere between 30-40lbs and has an colostomy bag; so his standard of life will not be the same for quite some time. his nursery probably hosts somewhere between 250-300 trees, if not more, that he hand waters every day as well. and don't forget that he has 4 kids and a wife who are watching their dad and husband go through this. so please do donate, he and his wife are very nice people, and they can use and deserve the help.
