Acorn to Oak Tree Contest Rules Discussion

If I grew a bonsai from an acorn in the past does it count? I'm late joining so haven't read through the whole thread. The tree in question has gone on to meet its master, but I did successfully make a bonsai from it for a time. It's a bur oak, Quercus macrocarpa.

Doesn't count for the contest, but I'd love to see pictures.

OK. I've been looking for them but can't find them. All I can find is pre-bonsai pictures, which you can find online by googling my name and bonsai bur oak. You'll find the same plant in a regular pot. After that I transferred it to a bonsai pot after doing some root pruning, etc. I entered it in a show here in Austin.

And now I found my own picture. As I recall, I had to take the shot from the side because my lens wasn't wide enough with the available space.

I have some seedlings that I started from acorns collected in Fall 2023 but I didn’t take pictures of the acorns themselves. Are those allowed? Thanks!

We're not competing for prize money or anything, so there's no need to be too strict with the rules. As long as they germinated this spring, welcome aboard.

And the squirrels get another. Down to 3.

I just noticed this thread. I happened to plant a bunch of quercus palustris acorns a few weeks ago so I guess that can be my entry. Southern hemisphere so 6 months behind.
