Here's my first official planting and entry. This is a quercus garryana that was a checkout line freebie from my local nursery. I love their idea. I'll be collecting more to enter as well, of course!
So, collected some more from the tree near our village, definately English/ German Oak. Ordered some more from the Internet...Quercus petraea, Quercus faginea and Quercus pyrenaicaSo, decided to join in on this one , I still have a lot to learn and tend to come here to read and pick up tips. Collected some American red oak ( quer cus rubra ? ) from a tree at work, and some random acorns from near our village...if they sprout in the spring then I will make an effort to find out what sort of oak it is. I will go for a look around for some more at the weekendView attachment 513530View attachment 513531
Good afternoon
I dont have a clue where those bugs came from since there are none in the bag of acorns I have now plus i float tested all the them and there were no bugs in the water .
Everyone of those is a live and growing a root , nothing wrong with them so just plant them , They will grow fine . Ive been selling acorns and seeds for 20 years on here
What do you guys think? I contacted the seller about the issue with the acorns, there are 2 acorns that clearly have holes where the weevils went in... this is the message I sent him, and the reply I received. I'm just going to leave negative feedback, as I think he clearly is going to continue denying that it was his mistake. If he "float test" them, where did the dirt on the radicles came from? I think he just picked them up from the ground or bucket he stored them and package them without even looking.
Good morning,
I open the package today to sow the seeds and they were all germinating in the bag and full of bugs. I would like either new seeds sent, or a refund. As the seeds are almost certainly not viable anymore. The seeds looked germinating but fine when I removed the paper, but when I dropped them on the desk the bugs started to come out from inside of them.
