Starting this thread to document an air layer I separated this year. The parent tree is in my yard, and the color this fall is phenomenal.

My plan next year is to later this tree again, just below the midpoint of the current trunk (roughly where I removed a sick branch earlier this year). I think that’ll give me a decent tree up top, and then a solid base to experiment with.

I'm doing a similar experiment on an oak but waiting for spring to put the air layer on the main trunk.
