Ability to delete a post

Unless I've missed it, we are no longer able to delete posts at any point after the post is placed. Surely, giving a poster a reasonable amount of time to remove a post placed in error would be reasonable.

I think you have to pm Bnut with a good reason... like "I was drunk posting and said something out of line"... well that isn't a really GOOD reason but I'm sure it is a common one!

Strange, @Bonsai Nut I dont see the option to delete a post anymore either. This post is just a couple minutes old:

I thought it was like the edit post button, where it was an option for 20 minutes.

If you are aware early enough (20min) you can go to edit and Backspace the post out...
Been there done that...

The "delete" option has been gone for over two months. We've had several different discussions about this topic.

It is gone because people were abusing the site by posting controversial content (personal attacks for example) and then going back and deleting the content within the 60 minute window.

Right, but for those who aren't abusing the feature, it's a bit of a pain in the arse not to having a delete option. Even having 5 minutes to remove a post would be helpful. If people are being so childish to post hurtful crap then pull it, just don't put up with it and kick them to the curb

@BonsaiNut - I think if you edit a post and remove all the content, then save it it should be gone. So there might still be a way to delete a post... I will try below.

Well while we're on the topic, @Bonsai Nut - have you thought about adding the ability to add photos to the private message (PM) system? So that you can send photos in conversations?

It's can be done...if you create a folder for a person...and changenjoying settings so only they can see. Then go into messages and click the camera tab at the top and choose from the selected private folder for person intended. Just a bit more work. But I've done it.

Didn't realise it was gone...but I see the reason for it. It will possibly make ones less finger happy with bullying. If they continue on...it can be addressed. May help ones monitor themselves a bit better.

Adults behaving like adults should be able to delete a post within a certain time period... people abusing the feature should be shown the door.

I get that...but if they delete it. How does one prove they neglected the tolerance policy? Just curious...people need to also be held accountable. If it got as bad as it seems.

Just because someone deletes a post doesn't mean it is deleted from me When people KNOW they can't delete their posts they behave differently. I will always be happy to delete posts that have a legitimate reason to be deleted.

Ahhh good to know. Yes,I agree. To think their words are permanent they will think a bit more than just posting in heat of moment. Better option then a moderator. It helps them with their own words. Totally agree.

Well, I guess I prefer to fix my own mistakes and not get you involved... call me old fashioned. With that in mind, I'm unlikely to ever ask you to delete any of my posts, as they're typically just misplaced or potentially uninformed in that I'm rushed and missed something earlier in the thread, so they just will serve to make me look like an idiot... but most people here know that I am already. Carry on.
