I flew out to NC this last Friday and rented a big box truck, loaded up some very high end power tools and started my drive home. My route had me stopping in Birmingham for the night, and if that’s not a sign to see some amazing trees I don’t know what is.
I went to his garden this morning and @Brian Van Fleet was EXTRAORDINARILY gracious in inviting me into his home and showing me his garden. We had a cup of joe and talked all things small trees for about an hour before I had to hit the road. (I’m typing this in ok city after a 10hr drive.
. I met his wife and son and it was an all around pleasure. I snapped several photos, though I wish I would have gotten more.
my initial impressions in the visit. Brian is a great dude with a lovely family, and though his trees are already amazing in photos, the size and quality of them in person was outstanding. Thanks Brian!
The peeling bark and color on the Stewartia, hawthorn and quince were such a lovely color.
