I think it will... as long as it doesn't rot. When you put a pruned piece of succulent in dirt, if the end hasn't dried yet it is susceptible to fungal infection. That is why it is best to let it dry first - it is somewhat like letting a cut scab over. Just make sure you don't over-water.
