1 and 1/2 Acer Griseum starter tree

Yup. But I worked it when it wasn't strong enough. Did wayyyyy too much and it poofed out. Biggest lesson is to be patient. Let the tree push out lots of growth and get strong first before doing anything drastic. The big one was still limping along When I hacked away.

On a side note, the little one that I did exact same thing to is still alive and kicking Love them red THIN bark!

Unfortunately mine doesn't even have any of those nice white roots on the edge of the pot as yours did, seems even weaker than yours at the time. Planted it in the ground and will be waiting to chop once vigorous

The roots will grow in times. I compered mines with those in nurseries I go to. The Nursery one had nice full canopies. Mine was very sparse. It WAS getting a bit stronger, but I worked it a season or two too soon.

Be patient, thee are slow grower, and possibly slow healer too.
