Planning trunk chops on atlas cedar nursery stock

I got this blue atlas cedar on a deep discount and am wondering what the next steps should be. I cut off the top ~6-10 inches late this summer and am wanting to ultimately cut at the blue line. Does anyone agree/disagree? Would it be too early to chop it this spring? I’m also wondering if I can...

    Beware of stolen bonsai!

Someone broke into the Eastern Leaf nursery and stole about 40 trees. Some of which Jason has worked on for 10 years. Really makes me feel sick that people would do something like this. If you see any of these trees for sale, contact them immediately please.

Juniper Informal Upright Chop - Opinions Please!

Hey All, I have a relatively decent nursery specimen here and am contemplating a relatively hefty cut. The trunk gets fairly straight and untapered towards the top section then the leader curves downwards in a large arc that just isn't looking realistic to me. I'm thinking of chopping at the...

Hi all, Just bought my first juniper form nursery stock (great discounts at this time of year!). I was wondering if I could slip pot it now (mid October, zone 8a) in a lager basket with bonsai soil. I'm planing to let this one row for a couple of years. See also the attached photo. Thx!
