    Knife sharpening

I have the EdgePro system. Has an attachment for scissors. Expensive. Haven't used the scissor thingy but on knives it's great. Razor sharp. I use it for my grafting knife. Takes a while working thru the finer and finer stones but you can put a mirror finish on the edge fairly easily...

Shipping delayed on ficus - ok?

It might drop leaves as it adjusts to your conditions. Don't panic if it does and don't over water if it drops leaves. I would gradually introduce it to full sun, since it's been in the dark for a while. Good luck

Online vendors for cheap but not bad pre-bonsai stock

There are several groups on face book. One only has items under $75. Most groups are "closed" which means you have to ask to join. Some are auction, some are straight purchase. Lots of pots. I bought a couple of maples there and am pleased. You can find trees from $20 to $500+. I think these...

    Finding Bonsai supplies/sundries.

Plastic canvas? If you use that for drainage screens, look at fabric or knitting stores - its used in needlecrafts.

I don't know about your area and what's indigenous, but could be a needle cast type of fungus.

    New Shelves

Hope not, but could be. The height of the long one is designed for display underneath the windows in my den. Didn't have much choice in the height. If necessary, I will anchor it somehow, either concrete blocks on the base or run a cable to the house. Small ones are 30 inches tall, so should be...

    New Shelves

Decades ago, I would 'a built them myself. Now, in my old age, I find its better to save the energy for the trees and other things. I have the equipment (table saw, router, drill press, etc) but finding good wood, loading and hauling, .... well, that would be REAL WORK! This gentleman had the...

    New Shelves

I found a local woodworking shop to make a couple of shelves. Cedar with polyurethane satin finish. This photo shows what is being delivered Monday. The tall one is for underneath my den window. Now, if only my trees looked this good.

New Pot - Now I need a forest

I have been looking for a long narrow pot. James at Bonsai Vision found this for me. It is 6 3/8 x 16 1/2 x 7/8 inch. There is no chop mark, James thinks it probably was brought to the USA from Japan decades ago. Now I need to create a forest that will do well in such a shallow pot. I am...

    deformed growth on bald cypress

I would try a partial soil replacement. You could take out a pie shaped wedge of old soil and replace with fresh. In a month, if it tolerated that, do another wedge. Flood the container with fresh water daily to try and wash out the glypho. Good luck.

On a bit of a budget but looking for something nice

There are plenty of trees in the auction groups. There are several auction groups, perhaps you are only looking in the one for bonsai pots?

On a bit of a budget but looking for something nice

The Mark Comstock maples I bought are real nice, as are the Pines I bought from Don. Watch the auctions on the different Facebook groups. You will find something very nice for your budget.

    Where to buy Sharps Pygmy?

Pre-Bonsai Mark has great material. He really works hard on the roots, creating a flat base with spreading roots. I bought a Kashima maple from him on one of the Facebook auction groups that had very nice roots 360 degrees all around. Not inexpensive but in my opinion worth it.

    deformed growth on bald cypress

The brown tips look like some sort of chemical damage. You mentioned some agriculture runoff. I wonder if there is a connection. Sometimes Roundup will curl or deform leaves. What do you think is in the runoff?
