Is that another blue and white pot?

I'm already using the first one I got, I may need another

Repotted a wild grape that I collected last year. Reduced the long horizontal root on the right by half and was able to completely remove the thick root on the left. Not a good pot but it will do for now.

Then committed some light torture on a shimpaku that I'm fighting with. We ain't friends right now. Sara Rayner pot just for training.

Practiced a little bit of pad placement on a little $13 nana. I sure would appreciate any good recommendations for videos that show wiring techniques for pads specifically.
Maybe something here that can help.

Just wrap wire around a branch, put some movement into it and clean under growth. Following year start thinning.
Procumbens should be the easiest to learn on.

Ok…. You know you have a tree addiction when the UPS driver is dropping off trees that weren’t addressed to you 🤣. Super cool UPS driver though
Every time I take a BC home my neighbor comes out and watches me flatten the bottom of the tree, reducing the root base to 3" or so thick. He shakes his head and says: "I don't see how that can live but you have a whole backyard full of them."

If he know how much you were selling them for he would have a whole back yard full of them too 😂

Drove across the Netherlands to attend a 2-day workshop on PhD projects for development challenges in Africa the next two days. Sleeping VERY close to my birthtownn at the coast. Had to go out in the "spring weather" and hit the beach this evening!

that don't look too inviting. What's the foam stuff blowing around?
yeah, just a hint above freezing with a stiff wind blowing..

Sea foam. The north sea / wadden sea is a very living sea with loads of organics that get whipped up in winterstorms.

Going to be 28° F tomorrow morning...

Have some repotted trees, recently collected trees, and leafed out trees that need protection for a few hours...

Into the shed - only problem is my shed it old and a door fell off last weekend (I'll be building a new, insulated one, soon)...

Best I could do on short notice.

(Some are in a plastic "deck box" also covered in a tarp)

We'll see what the min/max thermometer says in the morning 🤞🤞

Did a little trim up of the dead twigs on my spirea and removed the wire on the thickest branches and then quickly rewired them the opposite direction because they're not staying in place.
Have it sitting sideways in a tray of pumice to try and get more strength into that lower branch. That's the struggle with spirea just letting branches die off and losing ramification. It will need a restyle.

I like to dig up plants from my yard and give them away to bonsai club members but this barberry I can't even seem to give away.

So I styled it.

Hopefully I can give this little goblin away.

Found a stray dog yesterday and set her up in my shed with the heater. She had a lot of fun running around the backyard and licking peanut butter bones. She didn't even chew on any of my trees.

The cops came and got her at 1am and she's at the shelter getting medical care. I'll call and check on her tomorrow.
