What tree is it?
It's some kind of Holly (Ilex) but I'm unsure of the specific variety. Those sharp leaves were a delight! Though, in all reality they were well manageable. I'll do a bit more homework on identifying it today, as I've now got my car cleaned and the tree in it's temporary home. A few more pictures of this fun (ongoing) lesson and experience...

I rearranged my bonsai garden a bit. In the center, there were two benches.........one higher than the other. It always struck me as a bit asymmetrical and it cluttered up the space. I removed the monkey pole in the center of the workshop window and moved the two benches there. The result is a much more open feeling and a calmer place to be. It's going to make mowing quite a bit easier to boot.

Today I took more crappy pictures.
The pix are of that heavy juniper that is too big for me to lift enough times to get it "posed.""

I wired the sucker to let more sun in today.

And this badly exposed picture ....somewhat...shows the position of the pads after the wiring.

Not done yet but the weight and awkward lifting is more than I am ready to do. Got the "Wiring Hand Cramps" last night.

I still have a few reports to get through with one of them being more of a necessity at this point, but I slept all night instead. Maybe tonight after work....

Anyways I did a quick walk through of my trees to see how they were doing after a slight windstorm overnight. It is satisfying to see trees leaf-out after a repot with a severe root reduction. I also noticed my flakey fir is developing some cones. I don't know if there are any potential pollen donors in the nearby area, but it would be awesome if I can get some seeds off this baby.

I got my Shimpaku Kishu potted up. It’s my first time doing one so hopefully I didn’t scree up too bad. I think I put it into a Root Pouch that is too big, but hopefully it works out. Maybe I should remove some of the soil on top of the nebari? IMG_5847.jpeg
