Thanks in advance

It's a 2 months sapling. I'm very new to bonsai and could use any help. Changed the soil to potting soil and added some pH and distilled water today so it's too early to tell if it's helping. 15182450160003343456672557513269.jpg

What does "added some pH" mean? pH is the negative logarithm of the free hydron concentration.

Roots must get oxygen as well as being kept moist. The usual noob mistake is too much water (i.e., the roots are literally drowning)
  1. Drainage holes in the bottom of that cup/pot??? If there aren't any, make some
  2. Don't water so frequently. There are many ways to check
    1. Stick your finger in the soil
      1. if it sticks to your finger --> don't water
      2. if it feels damp --> don't water
    2. Put a bamboo chopstick in the pot - plunge it all the way to the bottom and periodically remove it (like a dip stick) to see how damp it is.
      1. if it is damp the whole depth --> don't water
      2. maybe water if it is damp just near the bottom of the pot
The easiest way to calibrate yourself is to not water for several days and you can observe it several times during the course of the day. Take note of how things are when the foliage begins to visibly droop, then water it thoroughly. Turgidity will return within a couple of hours at most. Now you know the feel of the stick or the soil when it is time to water - ideally just before the foliage would begin to droop. Water only when it is needed according to your chopstick/finger test from now on.

I have one in a small pot, growing it from seed.
They are tropicals, and they like warm weather, sun and water. But don't overwater it, as said.

I really appreciate all of your advise. Would it be a bad idea to leave it outdoors? Indirect from the sun. Again sorry for my poor knowledge.

I leave mine outside, early morning sun and then shade.

Again sorry for my poor knowledge.
There is only one way to get to be more knowledgeable, so don't apologize.

The best advice comes from people that have done the same, possibly dumb, things.
I've given you expert advice .

;)

No improvement. Added something recommended Tierra A 401 and Tierra B 142 but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I avoided watering it and allowed the soil to dry up before watering it a little. Left it outside for the humidity ( Miami, Fl ) but still nothing. IMG_20180214_162142.jpg

I would carefully repot it into an actual pot with drain holes and free draining soil. Allow the soil to stay just moist and keep it in an out of the way area(since you are in a tropical climate).

i am by no means an expert on delonix regia but i would strongly advise not giving it any more fertilizers and additives until it reaches a more healthy state.its a young plant and can recover if you let it. your dealing with a plant that doesnt care for wet or even humid conditions so remember, as you gain more experience with bosai in general you will learn to not expect instant results. your mindset will become long term and patience will become second nature. one more thing, it may be weird to some, but i talk to my plantsevery time i a[[roach them. while there is zero evidence to back this up, it helps. ive brought back literal sticks to life, maybe it has nothing to do with reality, but you will never convince me of that. if i had to guess anyone who has a love for bonsai has learned, or brought in with them a deeper spiritual connection with the art and the trees. you are not the master, the tree is. you only help it to achieve its potential.

I am the opposite of an expert, but if I were you I would follow the advice of @ssynn and #miker. Try to not disturb those roots maybe if you haven't repotted already. Perhaps put a lamp next to it?

Nice to see this staying alive! I got some seeds from Brazil in May, and have a few of these growing too. A little smaller than yours, maybe 8 leaf stage. Will be following the progress and steal some tips ;)

:eek:Feel like a real loser now. Thx. o_O
Don't.
These trees are native here.
As we had virtually NO WINTER AT ALL this year, they keep growing all the time, happy with the warm weather.
So, it's natural that they grow slower in Europe or in zones below zone 9 (USDA)...
